about

As a taster of a track on Magu Hiraeth (released June 2023), a pair of tunes named after the mountain standing guard at the eastern approaches to Pen Llŷn (The Lleyn Penninsula) in North Wales.

Yr Eifl (the name of this iconic mountain) and Y Mynydd Wedi'i Gerfio (or, in English, The Carved Mountain").

These tunes were written to mark the beginning of a small-scale project to cultivate this mountainside - today's ground-clearing and digging, planting and pruning, harvesting, and the like, all this graft taking place beneath the silent quarry, a reminder of a different kind of toil in and on this tough terrain in days gone by.
