about

Echoing the old Irish wish that the road rise up to meet you, this tune was inspired by the sight of the mountains appearing on the horizon as the extensive plain finally gives way to more rugged terrain. As I am, so my father was a great lover of mountains too, and a version of this tune accompanied us as we carried him out of the church at the end of his long life (aged 91) in 2018.
